Terms of service

These terms govern access to CarrTech.dev, including articles, videos, news, cheat sheets, account features, quizzes, downloads, and browser-based terminal sessions. By using the site or creating an account, you agree to follow these terms, the site rules, and any reasonable instructions shown in the relevant feature.

Who the site is for

CarrTech.dev provides Linux, cloud, automation, security, AI, and engineering education for professionals, hobbyists, and learners. Content is for general technical education. It is not legal, financial, compliance, medical, safety-critical, or production-specific advice. You remain responsible for testing commands, configuration, and guidance before using them on systems you own or administer.

Accounts

You must provide accurate account information, keep your password secure, and tell CarrTech.dev if you suspect unauthorised access. You must not share access in a way that bypasses site controls, impersonate another person, create accounts for abuse, or attempt to access another user's account, quiz history, badges, downloads, terminal sessions, or profile data.

Acceptable use

You must use CarrTech.dev lawfully and respectfully. You must follow the site rules. You must not attack, overload, scrape, spam, reverse engineer, bypass authentication or rate limits, probe systems without permission, exploit vulnerabilities, upload malware, submit misleading data, interfere with other users, or use the site to plan or carry out unlawful activity. You must not use generated download links, upload features, forms, or terminal sessions as storage, hosting, command-and-control, scanning, mining, proxying, or exfiltration infrastructure.

Interactive terminal sessions

Browser terminal sessions are temporary learning environments linked to specific articles. They may be logged, limited, stopped, deleted, isolated, rate-limited, or unavailable at any time to protect the service and other users. You must not use them against third-party systems, attempt to escape their environment, abuse network access, persist unauthorised files, run abusive workloads, or handle real secrets or production data inside them.

Quizzes, badges, and community display

Article quizzes, scores, badges, peer averages, and hall-of-fame displays are educational features, not certifications or professional endorsements. You must not cheat, automate attempts, manipulate scores, harass other users, or use another person's identity. CarrTech.dev may correct, hide, reset, or remove quiz and badge data where it appears inaccurate, abusive, fraudulent, or technically corrupted.

Downloads and article assets

Cheat sheets, scripts, examples, and article assets are supplied for learning and convenience. Unless stated otherwise, they are provided as-is and must be reviewed before use. You are responsible for checking licensing, security, compatibility, and operational impact before running or redistributing anything downloaded from the site.

User content and uploads

If you upload an avatar, submit account details, or otherwise provide content to CarrTech.dev, you confirm that you have the right to do so and that the content is lawful, non-infringing, and free from malware. You allow CarrTech.dev to host, process, resize, display, and remove that content as needed to run the site, enforce these terms, and protect users.

Third-party content and data sources

CarrTech.dev may display or link to YouTube videos, imported YouTube metadata, publisher websites, RSS feeds, GDELT news results, vendor announcements, documentation, analytics services, email providers, media storage, hosting, and AI-generated drafts or images. Third-party content belongs to its owners and may change, become unavailable, contain errors, or be subject to separate terms. Links and references do not mean endorsement.

Automated and AI-assisted material

Some news, summaries, drafts, images, quizzes, or editorial support may be generated or assisted by automated tools. CarrTech.dev aims to review published material, but automated output can still be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. Treat technical guidance as a starting point for your own verification.

Intellectual property

CarrTech.dev owns or licenses the site design, original writing, images, cheat sheets, examples, and other materials it publishes. You may read, link to, and use materials for personal learning. You must not copy, resell, bulk extract, train models on, remove attribution from, or republish substantial parts of the site without permission, except where law or a specific licence allows it.

Suspension and banning

CarrTech.dev may warn, restrict, suspend, ban, delete, cancel, or refuse access to any user or account where it reasonably believes these terms or the site rules have been breached, the site or other users are at risk, the account is fraudulent, required by law, or necessary to protect CarrTech.dev's operations or reputation. Serious abuse may be acted on immediately. Where practical and appropriate, CarrTech.dev may give notice or allow an appeal, but it is not required to continue providing access while investigating abuse.

Availability and changes

CarrTech.dev may change, pause, remove, rate-limit, or discontinue any part of the site, including accounts, articles, news, quizzes, downloads, emails, search, or terminal sessions. The terms may also be updated. If a change materially affects account holders, CarrTech.dev will try to make that clear through the site or account communications.

Liability

CarrTech.dev is provided with reasonable care, but no guarantee is made that content is complete, current, secure, suitable for your environment, uninterrupted, or error-free. CarrTech.dev is not responsible for loss caused by your use of commands, downloads, third-party links, terminal sessions, AI-assisted material, or content applied outside its intended educational context. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or rights you cannot waive under applicable consumer law.

Privacy, cookies, and email

Account data, email preferences, cookies, and analytics are handled under the privacy notice and cookie notice. Marketing emails and YouTube notifications are optional. Transactional account and security emails may still be sent when needed to provide and protect your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except where mandatory local consumer law gives you rights that cannot be excluded. Disputes should be raised with CarrTech.dev first so there is a fair opportunity to resolve them.
